Mediatization and circulation of meaning in the contemporary construction of events
Higher Seminar in Media and Communication Studies with Mario Carlón (PhD), Researcher at the Gino Germani Institute, Faculty of Social Sciences (University of Buenos Aires, Argentina).
The social construction of events is, at least since postmodernity, one of the most interesting fields of reflection to understand how mediatization affects our societies. The facts are now stressed between multiple flows and counterflows of meaning: those cross from the media to groups of individual actors, from portals and blogs to individuals and groups and those ranging from individuals (from categorized amateurs) to all other "social actors".
The research that we are going to present is based on the theories of mediatization and the circulation of meaning founded by Eliseo Verón and are presented updated to the current time. We are going to present a "comprehensive" analysis of a fact: the inaugural speech of President Alberto Fernández of the 2020 legislative sessions. We will attend to mediatization, the circulation of meaning between the media (newspapers, public television) social networks (Twitter , Instagram) and streaming portals. And, also, to what happened in “outer” space, in the Plaza del Congreso. A space also affected by mediatization.
