Roma and Sinti Resistance in Auschwitz-Birkenau

Dr. Matkowska will discuss and present Roma and Sinti Resistance acts in Auschwitz-Birkenau, including May 16th, 1944 uprising in Zigeunerlager and escape attempts.

Dr. Justyna Matkowska is a scholar and activist. She holds MA and BA in Literary Studies and Ph.D. in Humanities from the University of Wroclaw in Poland. Currently, Dr. Matkowska is 2021-2022 Fred and Maria Devinki Memorial Fellow at Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies in the United States.
