A JOURNEY THROUGH UKRAINIAN MUSIC AND HISTORY
The concert-Lecture is organised by the Stockholms Musikpedagogiska Institut (SMI), Ukrainian Institute, and CBEES, and is a part of the "Ukrainian Spring Festival." It will take place at the SMI concert hall at campus Flemingsberg.
Kamila Hurkovszkij (piano) and Sofia Kolupov (violin), both newly graduated master's students at the Royal Academy of Music, take us through the history of Ukraine with the help of music. During the concert-lecture you will not only get to listen to Kamila and Sofia perform music by Ukrainian composers who lived and created under difficult conditions, such as in concentration camps in Siberia, but will hear Kamila speak about the historical context surrounding the creation of this music and about the fate of the Ukrainian composers. The concert will be followed by an open conversation & discussion with the performers and Natalya Pasichnyk, one of Sweden's most internationally recognized concert pianists. Moderator: Irina Seits, CBEES, Södertörn.
