Guest lecture with Heléna Tóth
: The transnational dimensions of inventing socialist celebrations in Central Europe
Heléna Tóth is a historian specializing in international relations and European history. She received her PhD from Harvard University with a dissertation on political exile following the revolutions of 1848. After completing her doctorate, she taught European and German history at Boston University and worked as a researcher at LMU Munich. Since 2014, she has been based at Otto-Friedrich University Bamberg, where she completed her habilitation with a study of socialist rituals in East Germany and Hungary from 1949 to 1989. She has also held visiting professorships, including at Georg-August University Göttingen, where she has taught courses on Eastern and Southeastern European history.
