One Day Symposium on Phenomenology and Practical Knowledge

Arranged by The Centre for Studies in Practical Knowledge with the following speakers: Anthony Fernandez, Mara Grinfelde, Eva Schwarz, Fredrik Svenaeus, Uldis Vegners and Dan Zahavi

Phenomenology has increasingly become a major force and working tool in better understanding human practices and technological transformations of our time, connected to everyday life, politics and work life. Phenomenological attention is increasingly directed towards different stages and phases of human life, such as childhood, old age and illness experiences. This includes studies of the relationships between generations and caring relationships. In this symposium we have brought together phenomenologists from Denmark, Latvia and Sweden who make use of the phenomenological tradition in studying key issues connected to practical knowledge in our time. They address and practice phenomenology not only as a philosophical tradition but also as a resource in carrying out empirical studies and issuing political critique.
