Fanny Söderbäck är docent och lektor i filosofi. Hon har tidigare varit verksam på Siena College och DePaul University. Hon disputerade i filosofi på The New School for Social Research med en avhandling om tidsbegreppet i fransk feminism. Hon forskar och undervisar främst inom kontinentalfeministisk filosofi, kring teman såsom kropp, födande, tid, narrativ, våld, och sårbarhet.

Hennes bok Revolutionary Time: On Time and Difference in Kristeva and Irigaray (SUNY Press 2019) behandlar tidsbegreppet från ett feministiskt perspektiv, utifrån frågor kring förändring och politiskt handlande. Hon har redigerat Feminist Readings of Antigone (SUNY Press 2010) och Undutiful Daughters: New Directions in Feminist Thought and Practice (Palgrave Macmillan 2012), samt en volym av tidskriften philoSOPHIA med interdisciplinära texter om födande. Hennes essäer har publicerats i internationella tidskrifter såsom Diacritics, Hypatia, Journal of French and Francophone Philosophy, Journal of Speculative Philosophy, Signs, och Theory & Event.

Fanny var med och grundade The Kristeva Circle – ett akademiskt sällskap som arrangerar årliga konferenser kring Kristevas tankevärld. Hon arbetar just nu på en monografi om Adriana Cavarero och det säregnas filosofi, där hon placerar Cavareros tänkande i relation till queerteori, transstudier, och postkolonial feminism.
