Jenny Sundén is Professor of Gender Studies at Södertörn University, Sweden. She received her Ph.D. from the Department of Communication Studies, Linköping University. She was a visiting researcher at The Department of English, UC Berkeley, in 1998-1999, was in 2003 given a postdoctoral research grant to stay at INCITE (Incubator for Critical Inquiry into Technology and Ethnography), University of Surrey, and was in the Fall of 2010 a visiting scholar at the Department of Film and Media Studies, Hunter College (City University of New York). She has taught internationally, and serves recurrently as a reviewer of journals such as European Journal of Womens Studies, Feminist Media Studies, Feminist Theory, and New Media and Society. Her research interests are primarily in digital media studies, cultural studies, science and technology studies (STS), feminist theory, queer theory, affect theory, and ethnography. She currently works on questions of technological brokenness, disruption, and delay as a contribution to feminist and queer theory. She is also writing a book (together with Susanna Paasonen) on feminist strategies of resistance in social media, focusing on humor and its role in rewiring shame and shamelessness with the working title Whos laughing now? Feminist tactics in social media. Her articles appear in Ada: A Journal of Gender, New Media & Technology; European Journal of Cultural Studies; Feminist Media Studies; First Monday; Games and Culture; Lambda Nordica; Somatechnics, and Transformations.
