Third stream activities

Studenter i biblioteket vid Södertörns högskola. These pages provide information about the areas of the university's activities that are focused on third stream activities that involve companies, public authorities and organisations. Södertörn University's alumni are also an important part of this work.

The university's third stream activities are aimed at creating experience and knowledge exchanges between students and researchers and external companies, public authorities and organisations. The interaction between theory and practice creates more routes to new knowledge and innovation, which can be transformed into practical applications that benefit individuals and society in a variety of ways.

Student Collaboration

Södertörn University offers courses and programmes that focus on the humanities and social sciences and are enriched by environmental science, education studies and media and information technology. We educate the employees and entrepreneurs of tomorrow, so it is important that our students have opportunities to forge links with representatives from the labour market during their studies, with companies, public authorities and organisations. As far as possible, all programmes offered by the university must contain elements of external contact or have links to the labour market.

The students and their competencies are also an important link in the interaction between the university and the players in the surrounding society. Collaboration between students and businesses/organisations can take place in a variety of ways:

  • Degree projects
  • Placements
  • Projects
  • Mentorship
  • Guest lectures
  • Industry associations/reference groups
