Evaluate and analyse the relationship between the media, society and culture

On this course, you will discuss and reflect on the relationship between the media, society and culture, including the political, economic and cultural framework surrounding the media, and upon the media’s significance in societal and cultural life. You will learn to evaluate different models of analysis for the study of media production, media texts and media audiences, and to describe, orally and in writing, basic theoretical perspectives and research traditions in the field of media and communication studies.

Course design

Teaching on the course is based on lectures and seminars, and the course is assessed through obligatory and active participation in the seminars and a written take-home exam.
