Course content, modules and examinations

The course is aimed at students and professionals in Art History and related fields who are interested in developing knowledge, reflection and skills to respond to the crisis of climate change in the new geological era of the Anthropocene. The course title refers to three themes: the first is the Anthropocene as an artefact, a resultof the accelerating heating from the modern and particularly the late modern periods onward; the second is how the production of artefacts within art, design and architecture can meet the demands of sustainability - aesthetically as well as economically, ethically and ecologically; the third is how we can arrive at new models, histories and analyses of art and visual artefacts for the sustainable development of art and art history.
