Comparative Literature A, B and C of 30 higher education credits or equivalent each, and English B (intermediate level) or the equivalent
Learning outcomes
On completing the course, the student can:
- analyse and discuss, at an advanced level, literary and theoretical works relating to a specific theme
- independently comprehend and analyse current research on the theme in question
- independently problematise and contextualise the theme of the course
- take an independent approach to advanced texts and problems in literary theory.
Course content, modules and examinations
On this course, students will advance their knowledge of comparative literature by adopting an independent approach to literature and the research and theories about this literature. The course focuses on a central and contemporary theme in literary research and could address a specific subject or theoretical or aesthetic movement.

Course design
The course may be offered both on campus and as an online course. If the course is given on campus, teaching consists of seminars. If the course is given online, teaching consists of independent study.
Examination format
Active participation in seminars (if the course is given on campus) and a written take-home exam.
The grading criteria are distributed prior to the start of a course or module.
If a student has a certificate from Södertörn University for compensatory support, the examiner has the right to decide on an adapted examination or alternative form of examination in accordance with Södertörn University's regulations.
Restrictions on accreditation
The course may not be accredited as part of a degree if the contents are partly or wholly the same as a course previously taken in Sweden or elsewhere.
