Degree of Bachelor of Science in Economics, and English B or the equivalent.
Learning outcomes
After the course the student is able to:
- Understand and apply mathematical concepts used in economics
- Interpret mathematically expressed economic theories
- Construct basic economic models using mathematical formalism
- Use mathematical formalism to analyse economic problems
- Analyse economic data using basic statistical concepts
Course content, modules and examinations
The course covers the following: algebra, linear and non-linear equation systems, function of one and several variables, exponential and logarithmic functions, first and second order differentiation, partial differentiation, constrained and unconstrained optimisation, basic statistical concepts, basic probability theory, ordinary least square estimators.

Written examinationThe grading criteria are distributed prior to the start of a course or module.
If a student has a certificate from Södertörn University for compensatory support, the examiner has the right to decide on an adapted examination or alternative form of examination in accordance with Södertörn University's regulations.
