Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the doctoral student is able to:
- autonomously and critically account for and analyse state-of-the-art feminist theories on transnational feminism and globalisation,
- apply these theories in an in-depth manner in his or her own research project, and
- address theories of transnational feminism in relation to the topic of his or her thesis in an in-depth manner, both orally and in writing.
Course content, modules and examinations
The course focuses on contemporary transnational feminism. It presents how transnational feminism actualises central discussions within feminist theory, which have developed in a range of historical, cultural, social, and geopolitical contexts. The course focuses on local, national, and global movements, as well as on state-regulated and international institutions and organisations.Course design
The course consists of lectures and seminars.
Examination format
The examination has two components. One is active participation in seminars, the other is an autonomously written paper.
The grading criteria are distributed prior to the start of a course or module.
If a student has a certificate from Södertörn University for compensatory support, the examiner has the right to decide on an adapted examination or alternative form of examination in accordance with Södertörn University's regulations.
