My research interest is in the intersection of climate and environmental change, and public health. My doctoral research at Södertörn University focuses on how changing environmental conditions influence tick distribution and the risk of tick-borne diseases. The study examines tick distribution, environmental drivers and associated public-health risks in urban and peri-urban green spaces in the Baltic region (particularly in Sweden, Finland, Poland, Latvia, and Estonia).
The research explores how factors such as temperature, precipitation, vegetation, land use and other environmental conditions shape tick occurrence and human exposure. By combining environmental and ecological data with public-health perspectives, I aim to improve understanding of how climate and environmental change can alter infectious disease risks.
Beyond identifying where and when risks may increase, my work is oriented towards translating scientific evidence into practical knowledge for prevention, adaptation and public-health planning. I am particularly interested in the wider climate–environment–health nexus and in how research can support resilient communities and evidence-informed policy responses to emerging and changing health risks.
Through this interdisciplinary approach, my work contributes to understanding the health implications of environmental change and strengthening the evidence base for effective climate adaptation and public-health decision-making in the Baltic Sea region and beyond.
