My research is focused on exploring ethnic divisions within party systems, and my dissertation more specifically focuses on developments within the Latvian party system from 1998 to 2022. In the dissertation, I examine the effects of the ethnic party system on policy production in Latvia, with a focus on aspects such as the relation between the Latvian nation and the state, as well as policies aimed at strengthening Latvian culture and the Latvian language. I take a special interest in the role of political parties in these processes, and the complex interplay between nationalist and minority parties in the ethnic party landcape.
