Leandro Schclarek Mulinari
Associate Senior Lecturer
I obtained my PhD in criminology from Stockholm University in 2020 with the thesis Race and Order: Critical Perspectives on Crime in Sweden. Since 2026 I have been an associate professor, employed at Södertörn University as an assistant lecturer in social work with a police focus.
My research explores issues of racism and discrimination linked to themes such as crime, criminalization and victimization. I have written extensively about problems with ethnic/racial profiling in Sweden, and a particular interest is on the relationship between over-policing and under-protection of residents in deprived areas. I am also concerned with criminal policy and its increasingly repressive content.
Key research interests
- Community perspectives on vulnerability.
- Racial/ethnic profiling and inequality before the law.
