I am a PhD candidate in Education at Södertörn University, conducting research within the field of Educational Sciences (UVS) with a particular focus on the school subject of sloyd (craft education). In my doctoral project, Sloydtopia, I investigate how pedagogical ideas are formed, stabilised, and materialised in teaching practice. Central to the project are the concepts of aesthetic and cultural expressions and how these are given content and function in both curriculum documents and the sloyd classroom. My research combines discourse-theoretical perspectives with educational theory.
The aim of my research is to deepen the understanding of the relationship between pedagogical ideals and concrete teaching practice. By making visible how structures of meaning related to aesthetic and cultural expressions shape the subject of sloyd, the project contributes knowledge about how students’ opportunities to develop their own forms of expression are shaped within the framework of education
My supervisors:
Dr. Cecilia Ferm Almqvist is Professor of Education and Music Education at Södertörn University and Visiting Professor at the University of Gothenburg. Her research focuses on democracy and inclusion in arts education.
Marie Hållander is Associate Professor of Education at Södertörn University. Her research explores pedagogical questions of witnessing and testimony, and she is also an established author.
The researcher is not participating in any projects at this moment.
