My research is about different aspects of culture, economy and criticism, especially in the contexts of books, libraries and art in public spaces and consumer culture. This research corresponds well with my educational background in the Humanities and in Business Administration. My Ph.D. thesis, “Bookonomy. The Consumption Practice and Value of Book Reading” (2011), explored whether and to what extent book reading can be viewed with economic lenses as a form of consumption. At Södertörn University I am Lecturer in Business Administration at the School of Historical and Contemporary Studies and Head of the Librarianship programme. I am also Head of the Publishing Studies programme at Stockholm University (Department of History).
One of my key interests is the relationship between academia and its societal context. As a consultant researcher I have conducted evaluations and followed projects within both the cultural, higher education and library sectors. Since 2018 I am founder of The Swedish Romance Academy in collaboration with well-renowned book industry representatives. I view academic education, research and societal collaboration in terms of a dynamic whole.
The researcher is not participating in any projects at this moment.
