I am a research fellow in Swedish literary history financed by The Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities and Natur & Kultur. In the project "From Darkness We Rise Towards the Light" Race and Class in Swedish-language Working Class Literature, I investigate how notions of race are present in proletarian fiction from the interwar period in order to understand the workings of colonial logics in the texts. Among the authors studied are Dan Andersson, Eyvind Johnson, Moa Martinson and Maria Sandel.
In my doctoral thesis The Congealed Heart of Whiteness. On the Possibility of Decolonial Readings (2020) I read Doktor Glas (Doctor Glas) (1905) by Hjalmar Söderberg, Herrar (Masters) (1910) by Ludvig Nordström and Astarte (1931) by Karin Boye in decolonizing ways in order to provide insights into what the development of such a reading style entails in relation to the study of Swedish-language literature from the beginning of the 20th century.
I have taught at high school and folk high school since 2004 and at university since 2014. At Södertörn University I teach Comparative Literature since 2024.
The researcher is not participating in any projects at this moment.
