Funding programme for vulnerable researchers

In the autumn of 2021, the Foundation for Baltic and East European Studies decided to establish a funding programme at Södertörn University to support researchers in need of protection.

Due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022 and the subsequent war, the foundation has decided to temporarily expand the programme to cover six people, starting as soon as possible.

The programme is funded by the Foundation for Baltic and East European Studies and the scholars are offered employment at Södertörn University. The aim is that they will be able to continue researching and teaching in their fields.

The foundation and the university are also investigating opportunities to work together on expanding the programme to include doctoral students, as well as looking at other ways of supporting researchers from Ukraine.

For further information, please contact Andreas Åkerlund, adviser to the Vice-Chancellor for internationalisation.
