Senior Lecturer at School of Police Sciences and Associate Professor (Docent) in Swedish. My research and teaching focus on communication and interaction in police work, with particular emphasis on police interviews.

My research examines how language and communication are used in professional and institutional settings. I am particularly interested in what happens in encounters between police officers and interviewees: how questions are asked, how answers are followed up, how different versions of events are shaped, and how roles, responsibility and credibility are managed in interaction.

I primarily use qualitative linguistic and discourse-analytical methods. This involves studying how people use language in specific situations and how communication is shaped by the demands, norms and goals of the institutional setting.

In recent years, my research has focused mainly on Swedish police interviews. In the Swedish Research Council-funded project Interaction in Swedish Police Interviews External link, opens in new window., I have examined how objectivity and impartiality are managed in practice, how questions are formulated, and how police officers process and reformulate what is said during interviews.

I teach courses in Police science and in the Swedish Police Education Programme, mainly on police interviewing, communication and professional interaction, as well as research methods. I am also involved in SMOB External link, opens in new window. – Sweden against Organised Crime, where I work with project management and development. Since 2022, I have also served as Subject Coordinator at the Department of Police Science.

Across my research and teaching, I am interested in how broader principles, guidelines and professional ideals are put into practice through language and communication.
