This course address how theories of ecological processes at individual, population, community and ecosystem levels can be used to analyse and manage local and global environmental issues. The course focuses on questions concerning ecological patterns and processes affected by anthropogenic activities and how ecological knowledge can be applied to promote sustainability and biological conservation of species, habitats and ecosystems. Students are trained in data collection and the critical evaluation of ecological information to be used in applied situations. Teaching involves both theoretical and practical activities.
