Globalisation and international management concepts and methods

This course aims to provide you with an understanding of international management concepts and methods, and familiarity with topics relating to the globalisation of the world economy. It will encourage you to take a strategic approach to the challenges of management in the global economy, and to discuss international institutions, strategic alliances, multinational e- commerce and culture. You will learn how to analyse a variety of international organizational situations and to understand how strategies can be developed to meet new challenges in the global economy, providing an advanced approach to international management and relevant research in this area.

Course design

The course is built up around lectures and the discussion of a case study. The case study is covered in an initial lecture, after which you are expected to participate in discussions and make both written and oral presentations in a group setting. The course is assessed through your work on the case studies and a final take-home examination.
