Social Choice studies the concepts of justice and welfare. Issues of welfare theory are analysed from the perspective of philosophical differences between outcome-based (consequentialist) and procedure-based (contractarian) approaches. Justice is analysed based on the differences between contractarianism and spontaneous order, while ethics is studied as a social process. The link between ethics and welfare is considered.

This course is only open for exchange students.
