Why this subject?

Work with people and make a difference for individuals and for society

As a subject, Social Work involves studying social vulnerability, including its causes and consequences for individuals, groups and societies. The subject also focuses on studies of social work in practice, with interventions at individual, organisational and societal levels.

At Södertörn University, Social Work is interdisciplinary, which means it includes other subjects. You will also study sociology, political science, public law, psychology and epidemiology as part of Social Work.

There is a focus on urban issues, corresponding to the focus of the degree programme, Social Work, Urban Profile. Other themes include children and young adults, schools and civil society. You will investigate studies of measures that aim to lessen, eradicate and prevent social vulnerability.
