Third stream activities

We arrange seminars, symposia and conferences on themes such as bodies and knowledge, emotions and knowledge, narrativity and evidence, professional skills and professional roles, as well as civic education and learning. Our seminars and our publications are aimed at a wide audience and to representatives of various professions. Our symposia often gather a large number of participants from working life, bringing them together with research into practical knowledge.

The Centre for Studies in Practical Knowledge offers bespoke contract education for professional groups such as teachers, care staff and police. We have provided many such for courses for employers such as Dramatiska institutet, University College of Arts, Crafts and Design, Huddinge Municipality, Karolinska Hospital, the Police Academy and Södertörn police district. Th courses are designed as a miniature version of our one-year Master’s programme, with subjects such as the philosophy of knowledge and ethics, with the focus on professional encounters. Courses include lectures and reflection seminars, as well as supervision in writing from our experienced teaching staff.

Our employees are frequently seen in public debate and the media.
