Student exchanges within KreativEU

Södertörn University is one of eleven European universities participating in the KreativEU European University alliance. Students can tailor their education using the courses and exchanges offered within KreativEU.

KreativEU (Knowledge & Creativity European University) provides opportunities for students to participate in exchanges and take courses at a partner institution in Portugal, Slovakia, Czechia, Romania, Bulgaria, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, Turkey, or Poland. This cooperation also provides the opportunity for joint courses with students from Södertörn University and other KreativEU universities, which can include remote learning or on-site teaching at the various universities across Europe. This allows you to study at one of the partner universities without committing to a full exchange semester.

Shorter exchanges and courses within KreativEU

KreativEU will also offer opportunities for shorter exchanges, both through courses with a mix of remote learning and on-site teaching, known as blended intensive programmes, and through summer schools.

Routines for registration for mixed intensive programmes and summer schools are being developed by the International Office. This webpage will be updated during 2025, with information about what shorter exchanges are offered and how to apply for them.

Blended intensive programme – BIP

Students at Södertörn University can participate in blended intensive programmes (BIP) at part of KreativEU. On a KreativEU BIP, students travel to one of the partner universities for a short exchange of 5 to 30 days that includes activities such as exchange, workshops and study visits. A BIP always includes a mandatory digital component that may take place before, during, or after the exchange.

You must fulfil the following requirements to participate in a BIP:

  • Nominated for and accepted on a BIP at one of the KreativEU partner universities
  • Registered and an active student at Södertörn University
  • Intend to graduate from Södertörn University
  • Create a study plan (Learning Agreement)
  • Mobility (exchange) corresponds to at least 3 ECTS credits and will be credited at Södertörn University
  • Complete an electronic survey after the exchange
  • Submit a certificate of attendance after completion

Once you have been accepted for a BIP, you can apply for an Erasmus scholarship for the part of the exchange that is spent abroad.

If you participate in a KreativEU exchange, you have insurance cover for the entire exchange period. Södertörn University's students are insured through Kammarkollegiet. You can obtain an insurance certificate to carry with you during the exchange period.

Summer school

Summer school is a shorter exchange that takes place during the summer. You travel to one of the KreativEU partner universities that is offering a summer school and study for a short period. This allows you to participate in an exchange without having to travel during a normal semester period.

There are currently no summer schools on offer within KreativEU. The page will be updated when offers are available for Södertörn University's students in 2025/2026.
