What's included?
The theory and methodology of political process and practices
This two-year programme begins with a semester of courses on core topics in political science: Democratic Theory, Policy-Making and Multi-Level Governance, Democracy, Populism and Autocratisation, and Security and Conflict.
The second semester focuses on research design and methodological training, covering both qualitative and quantitative approaches.
The third semester offers students the opportunity to complete a professional internship, study abroad as exchange students, or to take elective courses at Södertörn University or other Swedish universities, in consultation with the programme convenor.
The Master’s dissertation is written during the fourth semester. The topic is chosen in consultation with the supervisor.

Dissertation work
Course design
This two-year programme has one semester, a total of 30 credits, that is composed of optional courses, and the programme concludes with the writing of a 30-credit dissertation. This provides the opportunity for considerable specialisation in a subject of your choice. Compulsory courses cover various aspects of governance and democratic theory, as well as research design and methodology.
